"The Town Sign"
Downham Market Town Sign
(north side) April 2002
Richard Wilson and me, Eric Wright have this year, once again, “smartened up” the town sign, we have made this an annual job since 1999 when we were heavily involved in the refurbishment project.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the job each time, not knowing quite what the weather and time have done to some of the older wood, we are now beginning to get a bit (??) shaky, both at the knees and the finger joints, so we now “sign off!!” the town sign and commit it to memory for us, but before I stop here...
We must say thank you to Peter Titmarsh who has washed the sign down for us each year prior to us giving it our attention. Also many, many thanks to Michael Howland at Keystones and his staff for the use of ladders and steps etc, which saved us the job of getting the equipment to the site.
